What is Learning by moving
Communication between European countries has become vital, especially nowadays, when understanding between people of different cultures has to be addressed. The Learning by Moving project, partly financed by the European Commission Socrates Lingua programme, aims to reach the general public via campaigns in different countries, helping people to realize the importance of languages. The project brings together 8 partners from 7 countries (in Malta represented by AcrossLimits from 1 Oct 2005 - 31 Oct 2007). The main objectives of Learning by Moving are to:
- promote European citizenship via language learning
- provide assistance in raising civil awareness of multilingual aspect of the EU
- stimulate self-learning and Life Long Learning (LLL)
- facilitate promotion of native languages and Least Widely Used European Language (LWUEL)
- prepare contemporary society to interact in multilingual European context
- facilitate access to language learning
- make more language resources available from local authorities via schools
- facilitate students and labour force mobility in EU
Our target group is the general public with special emphasis on, but not limited to pensioners, students, tourists, unemployed and the immigrants.
Our main activities will be:
- Organizing a campaign on public transport in 6 European countries
- Collecting materials for the content of the final products of the project
- Running seminars and conferences to evaluate the progress, results and sustainability
- Disseminating the ideas of the project
As a result of the project work, the main target groups will have acquired a number of social phrases in the target languages which will serve as the initial stage of international communication.
